 The dreaded word 'highwayman' was first used in 1617. These robbers operated in Britain until the early 19th century and were the scourge of the roads. Meet a highwayman evading the law and hear their side of the story. Many came to a horrible end - including one from Epsom.

New Library Open Day at the Abinger Research Centre

The society librarian will be holding an Open Day at the new premises for members to view the new arrangements and familiarise themselves with the location. Parking is limited around the village but public transport is available between Redhill and Guildford. Refreshments will be available and the Abinger tea rooms will be open. The Surrey Hills Wood Fair returns for the 7th year. Each year it gets bigger and better yet retains the traditional charm of a rural day out. Discover interesting stalls and great local produce. There is a big focus on family activities and children under 12 go free. A discounted rate of £7.50 is available if booked in advance (£10 at the gate). Dogs on leads are welcome and parking is free.
